My mother's home cooking,"bitter melon salad"

Hello.
This is May in Japan.

Today I'd like to introduce my mother's home cooking,"bitter melon salad".

"Bitter melon" is a summer vegetable and taste bitter.
My mother often cooks this salad in the summer.

This salad tossed with mayonnaise.
The ingredient of this salad are bitter melons, cucumbers, canned tuna.
It is good toadd tomatos to this salad.

This salad is taste bitter a little bit,but I like it!!


The bitter melon is called“NIGAURI”or "GOYA"in Japanese.
NIGAURI is written in Japanese as 苦瓜.
GOYA is written in Japanese as ゴーヤ.
A bitter melon has abundant vitamin C,so it is good for us to eat it in the summer.

It is a healthy vegetable,“NIGAURI”.
One of the secret of longevity in Japan is to eat “NIGAURI”.
