very thin noodle, "Soumen"

Hello.
This is May in Japan.

Today I'd like to introduce "Somen".

Somen is a kind of noodle made from flour.
Somen is written in Japanese as そうめん or 素麺.

Somena is thinner than other Japanese noodles.
We boil the somen for around three minutes and wash it with cold water.

Somen is usually served cold with tsuyu which is a katsuobushi-based sauce in the summer.
Somen is served in hot soup in the winter,we usually call "nyumen".

Some restaurants in Japan serve Somen on the menu only in the summer.

It is the best to eat cold somen on a hot summer day.
Try it !!
