What day is 4/29 in Japan ??

Hello.
This is May in Japan.

Today,April 29 is Shōwa Day.
It is a Japanese annual holiday.

It was originally Emperor Showa's birthday.
From 1989 to 2006, April 29 was set as Greenery Day.
The name was changed "Showa Day" in 2007, and the "Greenery Day" was moved to May 4.

There were arguments both for and against the renaming, because of a historic background.
I think that this renaming is very important for us(Japanese people) to not repeat the tragedy of the times of Showa.
