This is one of the special features of early summer in Japan,Hebi-ichigo.
Hebi-ichigo is called "Indian strawberry" in English.
Hebi means snake, ichigo means strawberry in Japanese.
There are several views on the origin of the name, but I learned that snakes eat this strawberry.

It is a plant growing wild in the field.
It bears fruit that looks like a strawberry in early summer.
We can't eat this fruit, but I like it becase it's cute.

Ao-Ume means the fruit of the plum before becoming ripe.
The ume tree in my garden is now in fruit.

Ao-Ume is a poisonous fruit, so we can't eat raw.
It is used for while umeshu (ume liquor).
White umeshu is very popular with Japanese women.

There is the tree of cherry in front of my house.

We could harvest lots of cherries, but the harvest was fewer than in the average year.
Because we have had plenty of rain this year.

Calbee (a major company of the potato chip) collaborated with Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The potato chips have a taste of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
When I ate this potato chip, I could feel the taste of fried chicken.
